How is the shipping quote obtained?
The shipping rates are obtained using the Container [Custom box] dimensions and the total weight of the shipment, the maximum weight(maximum weight the container can be packed up to) will also be taken into consideration.
Example:
Container: L 22 x W 16 x H 12, Maximum weight is 20
Product: 4 x 4 x 4, weight 2
In this example 22 x 16 x 12 and 2 will be used for this quote.
If multiple containers are used for one shipment, the same process applies.
The product dimensions (Volume) will be used to pack your products into the containers.
What should l enter at my Shipping Carriers website to pay for my shipping and print a shipping label?
Here's an example.
Product A: 10x10x10 (LxWxH) and weighs 12.
Custom Box A: 14x20x20 with a max. weight of 32.
Note: I have deliberately left out the measurements (in.,cm, lbs, kg) to keep things simple.
Using the example above, you should enter dimensions (LxWxH) of custom box A and the weight of product A at the Calculate Cost of your chosen shipping Carrier.
What is Weight Based Packing?
The Weight based packing method will still use the Container [Custom box] dimensions and the total weight.
It will not use volume packing to pack your products into the containers. The weight of the products will only be used to pack your products into the containers.
A maximum weight for your containers is a requirement.
