I have just updated my website and now my licence key won't activate.

If the Domain or url is different from the first activation of the Extension Works licence key the licence will not activate.

You will need to check the url and see if it is different.

For instance if you activated on this:

http://apple.com

and now you have logged into your website at:

http://www.apple.com

the Extension Works Licence key will not activate on this domain the www was not included with the first activation.
